The Norland Scarecrow Festival was established in 2000 to celebrate the new Millennium. Each year there is a different theme. The Festival is run by the locals of Norland for the benefit of the whole community.
As you travel around the village of Norland, you will see that the whole community gets involved, not just the youngsters. There is fierce competition with the standards remaining high each year – have a look for yourself in the gallery.
For the visitor, it’s a great excuse for the whole family to get together and have a bit of fun.
But the Festival also has a more serious purpose – it raises money for local causes and charities. Money is raised, in part, by the sale of the Trail Sheets, which is why we don’t publish an on-line map of the scarecrows’ locations.
Trail sheets are available to buy from the Scarecrow Tent and Church close to our main car park (see map in right hand margin). Parking is free at the main car park if you buy a Trail Sheets for just £2.
