Good Causes

The Norland Scarecrow Festival is run by the locals of Norland for the benefit of the whole community, the money raised from the sale of Trail Sheets , teas & cakes, scarecrow merchandise, raffle tickets and the like goes to local causes and charities which are significant to Norland and its residents.

Over the years Norland Scarecrow Festival has raised a great deal of money and has been able to support many local charities.

In 2018 we have raised enough to be able to distribute a total of over £8,000, £2000 more than 2017. The charities and causes supported were:

MacMillan Unit, Calderdale Hospital
Overgate Hospice, Linden brook,
Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Higgins Close Trust Day Centre
Ward 7b Stoke Rehab Unit, Calderdale Hospital
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, Pennine Calder Scouts, Neonatal Unit, Calderdale Renal Unit

Norland Church
Norland Luncheon Club
Norland School
Norland Preschool
Norland Youth Club
Norland Parents and Toddlers group
Maintenance of Norland’s three defibrillators

Whilst we are able to give funding to various groups, we are mindful to keep enough money in the bank to run the event the following year.

The success of the festival is due to all the efforts and help of a huge variety of people – if you would like to get involved please email norlandscarecrow@gmail.com

Thank you very much to all the businesses and organisations who donate raffle prizes and who buy advertising space in the Trail Sheet. Your contributions are hugely significant to us.
